Chapter Philanthropy and Service

The Alpha Nu Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha takes their philanthropy work to heart. Breast Cancer touches everyone in a personal way, and our desire is to reduce the harm it causes!

Think Pink Week & Pink Out Game

Every October our sisters come together to support breast cancer education and awareness through our main fall philanthropy event, Think Pink Week. Throughout this week, we raise awareness for breast cancer to Birmingham-Southern's campus and even the larger Birmingham community. We raise money, educate people on their risk and early detection methods, and spread support to survivors and those affected. In the past, we have had raffle prizes, bra decorating contests, Kiss Away Cancer booths, and make survivor baskets filled with goodies for different breast cancer survivors close to members of the chapter. We have also had various food trucks such as Doodles, Cantina, and NOLA Ice stop by our campus to donate a percentage of their sales to our philanthropy. Occasionally we hold percentages nights at local Birmingham restaurants including Nothing But Noodles and Mama Goldberg's Deli to further raise awareness and money for breast cancer education and awareness. Other Think Pink Week activities include passing out pink ribbons and goodies all while encouraging everyone on campus to think pink! Lastly, we host a "pink out game"  near the end of October where our football players, band, cheerleaders, and fans all wear pink or make donations to raise awareness and show support.

Crawfish for a Cure

Alpha Nu’s annual Think Pink week was a HUGE success on the Birmingham Southern College campus this Spring. By incorporating innovative events like our Hair Tinsel and Pink Lemonade sale and our Crawfish for a Cure event, we were able to fundraise substantial funds all while increasing awareness on our campus and in the community.

Along with our philanthropy events,

the sisters also put together Think Pink baskets, which are given to those recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

We have fun hand-making crafts and baking goods to send to these special women.
